Carlos Sainz's penalty at Formula 1's Australian Grand Prix was unsuccessfully appealed by Ferrari.
The decision was made by Ferrari to highlight a very rare example of a driving penalty that was challenged through the right of review process - ironically by the very team Fernando Alonso drives for now.
Sergio Perez of Force India and Felipe Massa of Williams made contact as they battled for position during the final laps of the 2014 Canadian GP.
Ferrari's historical reference, however, failed to impress the Australian stewards, and Ferrari's evidence was not heard.
As a result, Sainz retains the five-second penalty he was given for causing a collision with Alonso at the final grid restart, much to the disappointment of both he and Ferrari.
